On September 1st , 2022, four delegates including Mr. Sorut Sukthaworn, the Consul-General at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Fukuoka, visited the University of Miyazaki (UoM) and had a meeting with the executives.
Our university has partnership agreements with 10 universities in Thailand. Especially with the Chulalongkorn University where Mr. Sukthaworn graduated from, we concluded an agreement that dates back to 1988, it is one of the universities we are fortunate to have the longest relationship with, and have over the years accepted many international students from them mainly in the area of veterinary medicine. Mr. Sukthaworn expressed his deep appreciation for the fact that the UoM has received many international students from Thai universities including the Chulalongkorn University for long years.

An exchange of opinions took in place among a friendly atmosphere as the Consul-General shared his impressions and fond memories of Miyazaki Prefecture when he visited while studying in Japan. We would like to impart to our readers that we also learned that the consulate supports the 21st Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations (FAVA) Congress, which is scheduled to transpire in Fukuoka in November. Some of the featured participants at this congress are Thai graduated students who received their degrees from the UoM, who are now currently working as a veterinary in their home country.
Finally, Thai students who belong to the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine reported on their studies at UoM and their life in Miyazaki. Executive Director Shinchi remarked that we look forward to further strengthening this long lasting friendship with the Kingdom of Thailand which already persisted for over 30 years.
